“Modern & Relaxed”
A Kitchen Design in Highland Park, Illinois

Kitchen Design Overview

Jessica Maslana
Kitchen & Bath Designer

This kitchen was designed for a young Highland Park couple with a growing family. The goal was to create an open floor plan, that was bright, modern and functional.

Our clients wanted a maintenance free kitchen, that would stand up to the abuse of their small toddler. We were happy to oblige.

Our initial concept was to remove most of the walls on the first floor to make space for a good size kitchen.

We feel in love with the geometric shape of this tile. Being a glass tile, it provided the low maintenance our client was seeking too.

Because the kitchen was so dark, we added a large window at the sink wall. The space feels so bright and natural now.

We love how the hardwood floor provides warmth and contrast against the clean white cabinets.

The glass tile really looks great in this pic, understated yet bold.

The large single bowl sink along with the high arch faucet is simple and spacious.

The leather stools are sleek and easy to wipe down. Perfect for a young family.

The lighting adds just the right touch of elegance over the kitchen table. We added a bonus storage area, along with a beverage fridge at the kitchen table.

These tear drop pendant lights are simple and clean. They lighten the mood at the dinning area.

The geometric tile matches the modern feel of this Highland Park home.

The wide plank of the hardwood floor adds character. This is a Maple floor in a 5 inch width.
